On 22 October 2025, the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Crete, with the support of the Embassy of China and the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of China, successfully hosted the thematic exhibition “City and Countryside.”

Approached from an architectural perspective, the exhibition highlighted the timeless heritage of ancient Chinese construction traditions as well as contemporary innovative approaches. In this way, a fruitful dialogue developed between Chinese and Greek architecture.

During the past summer, students of the Technical University of Crete participated in the Young Envoys Scholarship (YES) program and visited leading universities in China. Through a combination of academic courses and cultural activities, the students experienced contemporary Chinese society and, in doing so, fostered bonds of friendship and cooperation between Greece and China.

The event was also attended by several students from the Technical University of Crete who had taken part in the program over the summer. These students shared their experiences from Chinese cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Chongqing. At the same time, they referred to the warm hospitality, the balance between tradition and innovation that characterizes modern China and the valuable opportunities for academic and cultural exchange.
