On January 21, 2026, 15 professors and students from the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University visited the Technical University of Crete. Chinese language instructor Ms. Zhu Shiheng and 14 students attending Chinese language classes welcomed them at the Language Centre.

It was a cultural exchange event between China and Greece, which strengthened the bonds of friendship between these two countries that are so far apart from one another.

The event began with a welcome speech in Chinese by two students from the Technical University of Crete. Shortly after, three Greek students moved the audience by reciting classical Chinese poems. Expressing their sincere joy at meeting their friends from distant China, they posed the question: 'Is it not a delight to have friends coming from afar?'

While dressed in classical Chinese dance attire, the Greek student Li Dehua appeared, dancing gracefully to the melody of 'When Will the Full Moon Appear'. Thus, the charm of Eastern culture flooded the shores of the Aegean. Following this, as part of the artistic tribute, a student from Tsinghua University took the stage and enchanted the audience with her elegant dance."

This cultural exchange concluded with the sounds of Chinese songs and martial arts demonstrations. The joy of the Chinese and Greek students is captured in the eight Chinese characters «中希学子,友谊长存» (meaning 'Chinese and Greek students, friendship lasts forever'), which they wrote together, and the scent of ink filled the room. This moment of heartfelt friendship will surely become a warm memory between the two universities and the two countries.
